Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The car starts fine but the engine dies right away. What could this be.

I have this same problem. I have a 1999 toyota 4 runner with a dead engine. Do you know reasons why this happend since I made mi lube every 3500 miles at a local shop. I already change my engine but I see in so many sites that this is a regukar problem with that V6 engine but no one gives a reason

What Jeff is encountering is engine stalling and it could be a fault with the idle control system.

Cleaning the throttle body and IAC would solve most of the time.

Engine failure can be due to many factors. And if a particular make is occurring more than others, it could be a technical fault whereby there might be some TSB on the problem.

Without an insection of the damaged, engine, it is not possible to determine the cause so I am not able to comment.

Without opening up the engine to access the damage, it is impossible to comment on the cause of the problem.
