The doors, windows and hazard lights act erratically on their own?

When no one is even in or near the van, and also when I’m in it, the back hatch opens and closes repeatedly. The side sliding doors open and close at random, as well. The hazard lights flash anytime they want, even while driving. I can’t leave my dog in the car for two minutes before she’s at my side or searching the lot for me. I come out and find a side door or back hatch open or opening and closing before my very eyes. I’ve watched from the window inside the house as the trunk door opens and closes repeatedly. Lots of times it’s just wide open when I come outside in the morning. Can't leave anything of value in it. Just wish someone would steal it, honestly. What do you think is going on? Van possessed?

Hi,

Wow! We may need a priest for this one. LOL

Does this happen while you are driving the vehicle? Also, if you want to stop it from happening, we could remove a fuse or two until we determine the cause.

As far as the issue is concerned, if I had your vehicle, I would start with scanning the can-bus system. This vehicle has several computers/modules that control different functions and determining if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored (other than powertrain), this needs to be done.

CAN stands for controller area network. As mentioned, there are multiple modules. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that shows how it's done:

Let me know if that is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

Joe

My best friend is an aerospace engineer. She saw a YouTube video that convinced her the car remote was the problem, so I took the thing apart 2 days ago and just left it inoperable. So far, so good, it hasn’t done it since! I heard about the CAN and that will be my next move if I catch it misbehaving again. Thanks for your response. I’ll go make a donation now, I’m glad to know you’re here, because I think this service you have is really great! Thank you so much!

It sounds like the TIPM is going out or it needs to be reprogrammed, but to be sure we can do a CAN scan which is easy. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

and

Here is the location of the TIPM, it is easy to replace because it-self learns. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
