Taillights not working

Bad braking and regular taillight mode. Replacement assembly prohibitively expensive (even used). Can the much cheaper five hundred assembly be used or is wire harness different (my car has an LED device)?

There is a #18 fuse and tail light relay inside the smart junction box that needs to be checked. Here is a guide the help you get started and the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works:
