I have a 1984 subaru DL with a 1.8L engine the axles have been giving me trouble for the last few years and im tired of replacing them. I found a 1992 subaru Legacy that has a bad Engine and I would like to know if the engine mounts and the transmission in the 1992 legacy would match so I could swap my engine to the legacy?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

I doubt it'll be that simple to simply dump your motor/tranny into the Legacy

Your '84 has a 1.8L motor, while the '92 Legacy has a 2.2L. Not sure about the transmission differences though.

Perhaps somebody else can help a bit more than I.

I made a rather large mistake in my original post the car I want to swap my engine into is a 1992 subaru loyale, and I would like to keep the transmission in the loyale and just put in my engine. The only major difference I am aware of is that my engine is carburated and the loyal is fuel injected. I was wondering if my engine would mount to that transmission and if it had the same engine mounts on the frame? Srry about the mix up I hope this makes more sense.

Thx again

Ahh. Well this fact complicates things a little.

I've got a 93 Legacy - and truely have NO idea what teh Loyale has for motor/tranny.

The simple fact that you're trying to take the motor out of your '84 DL into a '92 Loyale makes me skeptical it'll simply 'match up'.

8 years difference. I'd be REALLY carefull to see if it'll work the way you want. Sorry I can't really be more help.

The engine should fit in. To be on the safe side get in touch with a junk yard. They can tell you right away if it would fit using engine swap manual.
