The truck had a wiring issue where it wasn't firing on all cylinders, I continued to drive it till it just wouldn't start anymore. Although it sounded like it wanted to so I took fuse box apart got it to fire on all cylinders and to finally start but only run for a ½ a mile then shut off will only run really bad if I pump gas really fast it has black buildup in intake.

It sounds like the fuel pump is going out, but can you run the codes to see if any are stored?

Here is a guide to help:

Also, when the engine stalls, can you turn the key on without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for about 5 seconds?

This guide can help as well:

Please go over these guides and get back to us.

I put a new fuel pump in it when was able to stay running you could hear something in the valve cover clanging around and now that it only stays running a few mins I don't hear the clinging but the intake manifold is covered with black soot.

Hmm, it sounds like the exhaust might be clogged, I would loosen the exhaust system at the exhaust manifold flange to see if that makes a difference. The engine will be i bit louder FYI. Also, this guide might help:

Also did you run the codes?
