Stalls while driving

My car will occasionally stall. It will start back up and when I wiggle the battery cables it seems to help. I have had the cables checked out and they are fine and so is the battery. I get up really early and am afraid that my car will shut off in the dark where I cannot see where I am going. It has stalled at a fast food restaurant and I had to get out wiggle the cable and it started back up. It has stalled while I was driving on the highway and there were no lights power steering or anything. I pulled over and it started back up on its own. I will drive somewhere and go to lock my car door and it will not lock so I know I will have to pop the hood and wiggle the cable and it will start back up again. Someone said it sounded like crank sensor but I really do not want to put a bunch of money in repairs trying to "guess" at what the problem is. Do you have any suggestions and can I fix this easily myself or will I have to have a mechanic fix this?

It does sounds like you have a bad connection at the battery because when you wiggle the terminals which should not wiggle at all the car starts.

Here is a guide to help you get that problem fixed.:

Next we should run the codes to see what comes up which will help us in our diagnosis.

aAlso, this guide can help as well.

I went ahead and took my car to the garage to see if they could figure it out. They did a diagnostic which didn't turn up anything. They checked battery cables and said all are tight and they could not find a problem with my car. They did say that there had been several reports of my make and model car with the same problem. Have you heard of anything that may help diagnose the problem? Also, it can shut off driving dow the road which is why I am concerned. It just completely dies no power steering no lights no anything.

The first thing I would do is replace the battery becasue they can have intermittent short circuits that will cause the problem you are describing.

Please let us know what happens.
