Speedometer cluster not working

Can the vehicle speed sensor effect shift points? There is no check engine light or codes being given. When driving it is smooth, but this morning it shifts into reverse but into drive. Can the cluster cause this? The only gauge that works is the gas gauge. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Good morning.

No, the cluster will not cause transmission issues.

How long has it been since the oil/filter has been changed in the transmission?

If there is no check engine light then it is a mechanical issue not electronic.
