The brake is soft when I step on the pedal

The brake is soft when I step on the pedal. There is no leaking fluid. The pedal does not sink all the way, but quite a bit. My wife's car brake became soft about a year ago after the car was sliding down the driveway when it was snowing and the anti-lock brakes came on. It was not as bad then as it have been in the past few months. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you either have an issue in the master cylinder or the pads are just worn.
