Shift trouble

It will not shift from low to high and ignition key will not release.

Hi VICKI,

This sounds like the ignition switch has failed and needs replacement, that had big problems which the switches in those cars.

Also check the transmission fluid level, also disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect and retry. Check the battery condition as well here is a guide to test it.
