I did find this a few minutes ago.

I do not know if it will help you now.

Anyway I can still get that deficiency corrected? I opened up my differential further and there is quite a bit of shredded metal in there. Here is one of the axle shafts I pulled. Do not have enough experience to know if it is bad or not.

If there are no chunks missing, the splines I can see in your picture look just fine.

I believe your problem is in the differential itself, so far I have not found an exploded view or anything except that recall that might shed some light on exactly what might go wrong with the differential.

Maybe one of those phone numbers or some homework might, at minimum, hook you up to a Ford tech guy that might tell you what their solution was (rebuild, replace, replace with a different unit).

It would be nice if it was still considered an issue and they might take care of it.

I never have luck like that.

Appreciate all of the help. I plan on calling the number that were on the pictures you showed. If all of that fails I am sure I will be able to find a 8.8 axle assembly from a junkyard.

Ford will not replace it since “it does not have any recalls on it” and it is a salvaged vehicle. Right now I am looking at getting a new axle assembly from a junk yard. Found one for about $260.00 or I was going to try to find a rebuild kit for the carrier that I have currently. Figured whoever installed this aftermarket carrier never made proper adjustments in the first place so that is why it broke. A low end carrier costs around the same price as a new axle assembly from a junk yard.
Any expert opinions I will gladly accept before I tackle this issue.

Yep, you are headed in the right direction. Here are diagrams and instructions to help show you how to remove the front differential:

Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Insure your salvage find has the same gear ratio.
