I have looked up and tried every thing online that I could find and this demon light will not go out and my truck will not start. The key fob is still working, unlock and lock doors. System does what it is suppose to do as far (testing) as after pressing the panic button the lights flash and horn blows. It disengage after I hit the panic button again. It pass all the door lock and unlock tests 'to reset the system. But the security light still flashes and the truck still will not start. Please can any one help me?

Hi,

This all indicates that the key is most likely the issue. Please see the attachment. The SKIS or Sentry Key Immobilizer System requires the key and security system to acknowledge they are ok to start the car. Then they send a signal to the PCM to allow the car to start.

When the light flashes or stays on it means this system has failed.

If you can scan the computer with a scan tool that will help identify what the issue is. Let me know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks

I have just a regular scan tool and the first scan said no codes this was yesterday Wednesday, but I just went to check it again and it say PO562 low voltage and po700. I have been getting that PO700 but it going out it seems to come every time I had a battery issue, but soon as the battery issue clears up both codes go away. But I don't suspect this is a part of the issue with the security locking my engine. I was having trouble with the battery corrosion when these codes came up, but I use a cleaning and paint kit for batteries and that problem went away. I think the battery maybe dying now because that light is blinking.

I just thought if something though. I had to rig my key for the doors to unlock, it wasn't making contact on the unlock side, so I put some aluminum foul down on the contact so it could unlock my doors. But this was about a week ago and no issue with the doors unlocking except that I have to be close to the truck to unlock it.

Are you saying that you put that in the key fob? If so that would not affect your key in the ignition.

Do you have another key that you can try? I am thinking you have an issue with the programming. This could either be the ignition or the key. If another key does the same thing then we may have to have the vehicle hooked up to a scan tool that can look at live data and see if there is an issue with the SKIS.

Yes that's what I'm saying ' I put the Aluminum foul in the fob for better contact and it worked. No I do not have another key and I've been looking for this Mysterious Valet/override button and can not find one ' I had a mechanic take a look at it today ' and he got under the truck and did something to the starter and the engine did make an attempt to turn over. He said the battery was may have a dead cell 'but I don't think that's the issue. I checked and My battery was at 12.7 when the truck is not running but when I did a scan it said low voltage system besides the jerk stole a screw driver and my Micro Mechanic scanner I had plugged in the truck so I don't truck him a thing he said, He did say that he think the key needed reprogramming though. The other thing is ' I checked all the fuses and the fuses in the little yellow clip did not light up but they are not blown that's weird seeing that these are the two fuses they say to take out to do a soft reboot of the security system. I've sent a picture of that ' and some Mysterious button down by the kick panel someone had installed inside the truck before I bought it.

I prayed a lot and my prayers was answered. Wicked demonic security system. The security light was flashing and absolutely will not go away while trying to start the vehicle. The engine Seems dead, No sound at all 'except for a click from a relay down by the kick panel will not start.
The key will open and lock the doors just wont start the truck. I tried all those tricks locking and unlocking the doors 'pulling out the two fuses that's paired together ' none of that worked.
But I want to thank you for all your help ' the conversations in these threads lead me to the right decision 'if I had -had my truck towed to a shop I'm sure I was going to be taking for a ride. I called a locksmith ' He was out at my house no more than 5 min and it was running light is out ' no more silence when I turn key. My my truck was down for three days and facing a hefty repair bill. All it took was a lock smith.
It was my chip in the key. So here are the symptoms my truck had:

Wife went to the store, turned off the truck, got back in tried to start the truck.
It turned over but would not start, this happened about 3 times. No sure how many
I thought it was the fuel pump. In a way it was
all the bells and dash lights worked, and went out like normal ' then came that dreaded flashing little round circled light which in this vehicle is the security light. It was blinking constantly. The radio worked the lights worked every thing worked, except the engine. I hope this help someone who think they're truck is dead. It is not dead just in an automotive coma, or at best catatonic state. Call a lock smith before you go to a dealer.(Pray that it is only a bad chip.) They will cut you another key' this one has no unlock or panic buttons on it but it work. I still use the other key to unlock and lock my vehicle I just do not put it in the ignition. . The cause was: My key chip was dead ' even though it still operated my doors windows panic button still worked ' it just wasn't sending a signal to the computer to let it know to start the vehicle. The fix: A new key was cut and programmed.

How long did it take:
When they arrived I went out side spoke to the guys shook hands ' walked back in my house for my wallet, walked back all that took about 5 minutes and my truck was running when I walked back out. 5 minutes. Un-fricking believable.
I really hope this help someone. I really do. Lastly: Make sure the Locksmith has the ability to program automotive keys. It was a nightmare.
