Hello and thanks to all who can help. Occasionally, sometimes while driving and sometimes right after startup, the security light will come on solid. The airbag light will not clear. I can’t remember but our code reader said why it couldn’t clear it I wish I took a picture. However, on occasion the truck will start and then shut off and the security light will start flashing. This truck does not use the chipped keys VATS system any cut key will start it. In 2007 we replaced the whole steering column and hadn’t had any issues since. I’m getting ready to pull the column apart and look into the ignition switch etc, but if anyone knows more please inform me on anything else that I should look into.

Hmm, the truck does have the Pass-Key system so I am not sure why it would start without programming, the BCM handles the security system operation so it might have been a BCM code to help us see what's going on, here is how to get the codes which will will need.

I can tell you I have seen the pass lock sensor which is part of the ignition switch go out which is the ring at the ignition switch, but that should show up in the scan, here is the part I am talking about. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Hey sorry for the delayed response I was waiting on my new code reader. The codes are B1026 and B1054. I have yet to delve into the steering column. Thanks!

Yep, the first code can be the the pass lock sensor failure, I would replace it to see if that fixes the problem.

Code B1054 - Loss of Keep Alive Memory (KAM)

Code B1026 - HVAC Mode Door Actuator Circuit Range/Performance

Let us know how it goes.
