Engine Performance problem
2001 Saturn SL1 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 60K miles

I just replaced the fule pump and still have low (30psi) pressure. This is an improvement from the old pump but still low. The filter was replaced last Aug. Could it be the filter causing the low pressure or something else? I'm having to crank the car excessively to start. I'm getting a lean code but does not stay on all the time. Any help?

First of all thank u so much for ur donation. When I get a newer s model Saturn like 98 and up with low fuel pressure like u have the first thing I suspect is the fuel filter because it has the fuel pressure regulator in it. On the newer fuel
pumps they don't go bad that often like on the older model saturns do. When the pumps fail they usually put on 0 psi and freeze up. Once in while u will get one that fails and gives out low pressure but it's the exception not the rule. Give a filter a try they have them for 30 at autozone which is cheap there usually atleast 65. Let me know if that works if not then we will figure something out.
