My 1997 Saturn SL1 won't start until numerous attempts. It does'nt turn over at all but dash lights, radio, headlights all work fine. No noise at all when trying to start it. It is winter and very cold out.

Starter does not engage, engine does not crank over, nothing happens except power from the battery. Still cold out, but it started right up this morning. Ignition switch maybe?

I doubt its the ignition I havent really seen those fail for that.I was thinking more like the started or battery.I would make sure the cables are clean and tight have the battery and alternator tested to start with but u said the starter makes no noise so it could very well be the starter. If u had a test light we could narrow down the problem to the cause. Do the things I asked first get a test light if u have too then let me know.
