"Hi I have a 2002 SC2 coupe only 53,000 mile on it.I am having a ABS problem.
When I step on my brakes slightly to stop I hear a loud vibration sound I also feel the vibration threw the break pedal.
I had my done last year at saturn and I good with breaks they lasted me 5 years.I started having the problem about 2 or 3 months later.
I needed a oil change so I ask them about it and they checked them at saturn and they said that it's normal and the sound I am
hearing is the ABS coming on.I never heard this sound before when I bought it brand new.
All of sudden when I got my breaks done this has happened.
It's is getting worse now and sometimes the ABS light comes on once in awhile.
When it comes on for a few seconds the noise stops then when the light went off the noise started again.
I am worried that I am hurting my car and the saturn dealer said the breaks were okay.
The abs light has not come on since I owned the car until now, Do know what I can do?Do know what is causing this?
Thank you very much Scott"

First of all thank you so much for your donation it really helps to keep this site running and answering everyones questions. As far as ur abs it makes noise when u first start ur car and start to drive it does a self check makes some noise and if u step on the brakes during this the pedal will kick back. Also if u go into a abs stop situation it will make noise and the pedal will kick back. If the computer detects a fault in the system it will shut off and go to base brakes untill the next key cycle and if it doesn't detect a failure the abs will turn back on. If u have a failure in the abs there should be a code or codes in the system have ur abs scanned for codes. Maybe u can have it done for free at the auto parts store like autozone. Let me know what u find so I can help u further.

Is this a buzzing or humming kind of sound?

What speeds does this happen at?

Slowing down at a light, or while coming off of a thruway exit?

Is there an ABS light on?

For how long if it has?

It sounds like the abs may be engaging when it shouldn't.

I suggest taking it back to the dealer and take the service advisor/manager or technician with you on a test drive.

If it was more severe after exiting from thruway speeds I would lean towards brake rotor problem.

Don't put this off or they will be less apt to do anything towards your satisfaction.
