1997 saturn sc1 4 cyl approx 93,000 mi - temp gauge seems to be erractic - guage will bounce from almost hot to hot - under hood I noticed water hose on right hot but hose on the left side to thermostat was cool-any help would be appreciated -suspect thermostat or waterpump- thank you

The coolant temp sensor cracks and/or the connector at the sensor falls apart. Every saturn dealer stocks the sensor and the wire. Change them both. I can't tell you the number of these i've changed over the years.
