I replaced plugs wires and TPS, it ran good for a short time, but then started acting up and now I can smell gas. When it shifts it starts shaking. Help please!

Hi,

If you are smelling fuel, make sure there are no leaks under the hood. If there is nothing leaking, then we need to check the fuel pressure and regulator. If the regulator is failing, too much pressure can cause what you described.

Here is a link that explains how to test fuel pressure:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

If you look at the pic below, it provides the manufacturer's fuel pressure specifications.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Note: In pic 2, I circled the regulator and highlighted where a vacuum hose should be. Disconnect the hose and make sure there is no fuel in it. Also, make sure that the hose isn't damaged or leaking vacuum.
