Feels like wheel hop. Intermittent spurts of vibration felt in the steering wheel lasting 2-3 seconds in duration. Sometimes 3-4 times in 5 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes with nothing. Tires rotated about 6,000 miles ago. Show no signs of odd or irregular wear. Speed doesn't matter.

Does this happen after hitting a pot hole or joint in a bridge? Or does it happen on flat roads with no bumps?

If there is something in the road that causes this then I suspect you have an issue with the steering stabilizer or linkage.

If it were me I would lift the front end and shake the tires down by shaking 6 and 12 to check the ball joints and 3 and 9 o'clock to check the tie rods.

Let me know what questions you have or if this is not the issue then made a video will help explain what you are seeing.

Thanks

FYI, it turned out to be something called "torque converter shudder". A software glitch affecting fluid dispersal, or some such thing. Glitch was corrected, transmission drained and flushed. Now running like a top. Thanks for the help!

Sounds great. That makes perfect sense now that we know what it was. Not sure I would have come up with that at this point but that info will surely help others when they have a similar issue.

Please come back to 2CarPros in the future.
