I want to buy the car but scared because they said they just replaced the valve cover. Is that a red flag.

Hi,

The valve covers are nothing more than a cover at the top of the cylinder heads. They can leak and as a result, normally the valve cover gaskets are replaced. They are really not a mechanical component. They are simply a cover.

I attached a pic below from my manual, there are two of them, one on each side. Actually, the manual refers to them as a cylinder head cover. LOL

As long as it runs well, this isn't a red flag. Chances are they started to leak.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
