My car listed above is a hatchback and it needs new clutch. Mechanic estimate is $1,300.00 to $1,700.00 depending if flywheel needs to be replaced. I also have some body damage that will cost plus or minus three grand to repair. Not sure if I should put that kind of money into the car or look for a used car to replace it. Was thinking of a Honda CRV or Fit, or doing another Mazda 3. I like the car. Or should I just go with the repairs? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

With only 88,000 this car has plenty left in it and will cost much more to replace the car. Here is a guide to help you see how to replace the clutch once the transmission is out so you can see whats going on:

By the way, you can get a new clutch kit on Amazon for $202.00.

You will need to pull the CV axles.

Here are diagrams to help you see how to get the transmission out.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken
