I tried recharging my A/C a few times and it went straight into the red on the gauge. So, I took to mechanic, and they said I didn’t have any leeks and all I needed was a recharge, so I tried to recharge again, and the Freon started spewing out of the valve?

Hi,

What are you using to recharge the system? Are you certain you are attached to the low side?

Do me a favor. Take a look through this link and let me know if this is how you are recharging the system:

If that is what you are doing, we need to get a manifold gauge set and check what the pressures are on both the high and low sides.

I suspect they vacuumed the system to determine if there were no leaks. It can hold a vacuum, but there can be issues with the compressor or something could be blocked. Take a look through this link to see how manifold gauges are used in a vacuum/recharge.

If you have a gauge that goes into the red, be careful. Excessive pressure can cause the can to fail.

Let me know.
