Rod knocking in my 96 5.7L tahoe. I have a 99 5.7 tahoe that has been wrecked. Motor has 140,000 miles. I put motor from 99 into 96 tahoe. What do I have to change to 96 model in order for 99 5.7L motor run like it should?
Do I have to change ECM from 99 5.7L tahoe?

If they are both small block then you don't have a problem as long as sensors are hooked up. If it's an ls series then take it out as it won't work even if it bolts up. If your 96 sensors hook up then it should be ok only an ls motor won't work.

Why did you send th pic I know what they look like. If you know the difference between an LS engine and a small block 350 then you can hook everything up and run the 96 setup in it.

Just use the sensors off of a 96 if the 99 ones are the same then use those the truck computer will be still a 96 setup. In 99 they changed over to some LS style engines and those will not work in a 96 but if it's a 5.7 small block they didn't change the setup on the engine it was more software stuff.
