How to get air out of the system? If that can be the problem, the heater puts out heat and the van's temperature is good. I cannot find any leaks but have to put about a half of pint of water.

Hi,

If you are getting heat and the engine is not running hot, chances are there is no air in the system. If you only added a half pint of coolant, that isn't odd unless you have to do it very often.

Do me a favor. Take a look through this link that may help locate a leak if one exists:

Also, I attached the procedure for refilling and bleeding the coolant. See pics below.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

I have installed a new radiator and radiator cap, and a new thermostat. I don't see any wet antifreeze anywhere. Water pump drain hole have a little bit of dried rather do on it. The radiator bangs mostly when I have the heat on. When the heat is not on it's not as bad temperature gauge don't even get nowhere half mark.

Hi,

The idea that there is dry coolant at the pump is not a concern. If it was wet, that is different.

What do you mean by the radiator bangs with the heat on? Is it loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear?

Let me know.

It stopped knocking. I think I had air in the cooling system. My temperature gauge goes up and down. I am going to try a new fan clutch.

Hi,

It could be related to the fan. I attached a pic below showing how to remove the clutch assembly from the water pump. You will need a special tool, but most parts stores will lend one to you. Also, take note as to what I highlighted.

Take care,

Joe

I have changed the fan clutch, also the radiator is still knocking but not as long as it had been. I Googled that it said that to be out in the system. I opened the radiator cap and turned the heat on continue pouring antifreeze and your radiator and to all the bubble stuff bubbling, but I still have a knock.

By chance, could you record the noise and upload it for me to hear?

Let me know.
