1996 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

1996 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 stalls while driving, daytime headlights go out, as if the car is being turned off. However, after 2-5 minutes the car will restart and run.I have also noticed the the "check oil" light is on, even though the oil level is full.

First, if the oil light is on, are you hearing any knocking or ticking from the engine? If not, replace the oil sending unit. If the computer thinks you have no oil pressure, it will shut the engine down. THe sending unit is most likely the problem.

Let me know if this helps. NOTE: It isn't an expensive part, easy to replace, and is located near the oil filter.
