1996 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 137000 miles. Car was stalling out when slowing down and going into turns. Changed the fuel pump and in-line filter. Disconnected battery to try and reset computer. No codes are coming up. Now that we have replaced the said parts the car seems to have a backfire problem when reaching 2100-2500 rpm. The original problem also still exists. Any toughts would be appreciated. Could this possibly be the catalytic converter?

Hi I have an answer for you but you will need to have it comfirmed. The keyword is backfire. That is normally from a timing issue. If the convertor is clogged than you should be getting some codes.
