I have been having major electrical problems for about a month. It began by hearing a buzzing, shorting sound coming from somewhere in the middle of the dash. Shortly after that, the interior and exterior lights flickered, and the indicator panel (oil level, miles till empty, doors, so on) went blank. Since then it has happened again with the buzzing, shorting sound; interior and exterior lights flickered and this time all the dash indicator lights came on and the car shut down while in drive. The door locks opened and closed a few times as well. Fortunately, I was able to stop the car from rolling, put it in park, then start the car again. Now in addition to my indicator panel not working, my wipers do not move for more than a 1" jump from the off position. In addition, all four of my windows will go down most of the time but will not go up on command. This problem "may" be isolated because it is pre-existing to the current issue. Is there hope for my money pit of a car?

First thing you need to do is have it scanned with a tool that can read B and U codes, these are codes a regular generic scantool cant read. GM dealer is a good place, and GM designed it that way! Convienient yes?

The lights flicking on and off is your BCM. Been there done that. It was draining my battery cause all the lights kept flicking even after my car was off. And sure enough that's what it was. The buzzing you are hearing. It over in the glove box. It sounds like from the middle of the dash. But it's the connectors on the relays inside the glove box. They are a pain in the rump to work with. You will have to take the lid of the glove box off to work in the small cramped area. Mine was the red wire going into the connector that the relay snaps into. It was not making a connection to the relay would not work. There are two, one grey and one black. I can't remember which connector it was for which relay. You will just have to investigate. My windows wouldn't work, the stereo, nor the sun roof. Or they would work sometimes and go out when I would hear the buzzing noise. Good luck to you :)
