Yesterday I ran out of gas. Got 5 dollars worth put it in and car wont start. I thought it was the fuel pump, so today I went and turned the key forward to check. Fuel pump fires right up, no strange sounds or anything. We also checked the pressure in the front and the engine is getting gas. The car fires up sounds like its running great and then immediatley stops. The check engine light came on recently. Seems like its an electrical problem. I read somewhere about running out of gas and tripping some kind of reset. Any ideas?

Running out of gas will cause pump to overheat, sometimes causing pump failure.
If you have checked fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge and it is OK.

Take car to most autoparts stores and get codes read. Post codes.
