2002 Pontiac Grand Prix A/C Cuts Out and Car Status Display

My GP GTX supercharger has an issue. On occasion the Air Conditioning will only work on the #5 setting. At this time the lights will be off as well. If the lights are needed they will come on if the light switch is moved to the on position. Also at this same time the status display (MPG Avg and other info on the car) is not operating (display is off). This condition will come and go at random. I thought dirty cables to the fuse box on the right side might be the culprit so I dissassembled these three leads and cleaned the leads and reassembled. Worked for a few days then it re occured. What is the problem? What can I check?

Wow, amazing. We're having the EXACT same issue on our 2002 Grand Prix SE. It finally got to where the a/c would only blow on 5, before it was intermittent. My wife just called to say the a/c quit working completely. Any one know a possible solution?
