I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand am SE1. Lately its been doing strange things. One is that the car is really loud. When you turn it on it sounds like an airplane. It vibrates a little especially when your at a ligh and if you go over 50 miles per hour it shakes. Its been using up a lot of gas too. Im concerned and I dont want to go into a garage without having some idea of whats wronge. They see a female and automatically try to take advantage. I have to be honest I know nothing about cars. Its had an oil change, and a cleaning of the gas line. Can you give me an idea of what it could be

Has the check engine light come on? Also, do you know how to check for vacuum leaks? Finally, when was the last tune up?

There are hoses on the engine that carry vacuum from the engine to components. Check for disconnected ones, dry rotted, or damaged ones.

Also, you mentioned the engine sounds loud. Does it sounds like an exhaust leak or something under the hood?
