Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I was wondering if you would know why my car wont start. I drove it for over 2 yrs and just this morning I parked when I ran into the store and then came out to find out when I put my key in the engine that it wont turn over. It sounds like it tries but then you get a soft sound then nothing its completely silent. Tried boosting it but the battery seems fine since all lights work and everything but I cant get it to go. Had issues before with the starter where I couldnt use my key to start my car only the remote car started now neither of them work and I can afford to have more people look at it than already has and they all gave me bad advice on what was wrong anything will help on what to look for or what to try. Thanks a bunch

You will have to get charging system checked at most autoparts stores (free). They can also measure starter draw (amps required to start).

Also check the battery terminal connections, make sure they are clean and tight.

If you cannot get the car started to get to store, then remove starter, battery and alt. And take to store and have them bench tested (free).
