I have a 99 grand am. Ive had it for a few years and no problems then a week ago the trac light turns on and the brakes release. I thougt mabey it might be a fluke but then it happened again. It could cause an accedent. Anybody have any idea what could be wrong. Thank kris

Had a similar, not exact, problem. Turned out to be wheel bearings completely gone, so the system shuts down abs/trac, etc to basically stop you from going anywhere. Have a local shop take a look at those. Will run you quite a bit to replace. Some places charge $500-$600 per wheel bearing. I went to Meineke, they did $500 for both front ones, just had to negotiate. Keep your receipts bro, cause 6 months later, had the same problem, they installed a defective one, and ONLY after I went to another shop that said it was a wheel bearing problem, ONLY then did Meineke (I'm sure for legal purposes) honor their 1 year warranty. Bums. And guess what? Problem stopped once they replaced the defective bearing.
