1995 Pontiac Grand Am Front Wheel Drive Automatic

im not exactly sure on the car its self its my fiances car but she explained to me that when they boosted her car it ran but when she went to back up it dies on her. Would it be a bad battery (even tho its new) or could it be electical please answer

If the battery is new, why the boost? Is the charging system ok, battery cables ok? As far as dieing in reverse, Is the vehicle warmed-up? Can you check fuel pressure, any codes?
