1989 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird 2.8 V6 Automatic Fuel injected car. My probelm is that the fuel pump won't engage at ignition. We know that the fuel pump does not need replacement because we have tested it using a bypass, it just won't start at ignition. We have checked the fuse and replaced the fuel pump relay. What's wrong?

What you need to do is check the fuel pressure if its within specs-might be coming on but not producing pressure. Also check and test the fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit-

Ok we have checked that. It was loose but plugged in. Now we're going to change the fuel filter. We think it's plugged and bringing down the fuel pressure.
