Whenever the transaxle is shifted into Drive the a/c turns on. The a/c in the turned off position, and /or the hvac system turned off, but open the hood and the a/c line is cold to the touch, and air is cold as soon as the fan is turned on. The hvac control panel was replaced as the a/c portion burned out. The panel was calibrated. A Dodge mechanic sugested that there could be a short. I need help detemining where to look.

For this you will need a wiring diagram of the vehicle. Go to bottom of main forum page to repair manuals link. That is to Mitchell On Demand, the same software shops use. Inspect the wiring harness carefully at the shifter linkage on trans, could have rubbed through

When the rebuilt transmission was install the wiring harness that crosses over the top of the trans was tight and jammed against the shift linkage. I moved the wiring harness and secured with zip ties and the problem was resolved. I need to check for a hole in the insulation.

Thanks for the answer.
