Hi,

map sensor is ok. Engine doesn't have the igition coil(s), it has the module and that tested ok.

He's gonna check the o2 sensors tonite. Keep your fingers crossed. We really need to fix this issue! :)

Basically that is adjusted from the info from the coolant temp sensor/engine temp sensor, o2 sensors, MAP sensor, MAF sensor. You cant really make it lean, you could by putting smaller cfm injectors.

Ok, had to replace the upstream 02 sensor. Now it's throwing a p0443 code. The car was hit on the side right by the purge selenoid, pushing it back into the strut tower. He bypassed the purge selenoid and it seems to be running a bit better. It will stay running after putting it under load, but it still shudders and shakes. Any thoughts?

YES, FINALLY A CODE!

EVAP system, what I was going to have you check next.

Now starting at the tank, all the way up to the canister, check for rotted or cut/cracked holes on the vaccum lines, also try a new gas cap.

Also install a new purge valve, dont bypass it

We've just about went over everything also everything that would cause a lean code, have you ever had the MAP sensor checked.

Maybe you should have a delaership look at it and do a smoketest on it for vaccum leaks.

We replaced the map. It's running rich in bank one according to the obdII. We're wondering now if maybe there isn't a problem with the coolant sensor. The obdII says the temp of the coolant is minus 40 celsius. Maybe that's off telling the computer to dump more fuel? Any idea how to test the sensor to see if it's ok? I'm really starting to wonder if it is the computer.

IT could be but it usually will cause a cold start problem and go away when warm

the resistance should be the same as the IAT intake air temp sensor. As they are both resistors.

They already checked the EGR valve.

May be a bad ignition module or if distributed a bac pick up coil.

Hi again,

Just thought I'd update you on the car. It's been with the mechanic for a couple of months now as we gave up trying to figure out what the issue was. The mechanic is just about snatched bald by the car too. The final determination is that something is causing blow back into the car, filling the map sensor with oil and causing the computer to go nuts. They said it could be a number of things but can't pinpoint exactly what, so they've suggested we try to find a used engine as that would be cheaper than trying to rebuild this one.

Hmm, since they looked it over I would trust their word as I cannot physically examine your vehicle.

Hi,

I know, I just wanted to let you know what we found out. They've had it hooked up and checked out and it will run fine for a bit, then it goes off the charts. When they take out the map sensor, it's full of oil. I just wanted to let you know what we found out and not keep you hanging. You were very helpful to us earlier.

Thanks! :)
