How tight should the pilot bearing fit on the input shaft of the transmission? The bearing I have is going to have to be pressed on to the transmission shaft. Is this the incorrect bearing or is this normal? I know that are suppose to be snug against the shaft, but press on tight snug? Thanks

Hi Doug,

Are you saying you are pressing the bearing onto the input shaft in order to install it? This is not the correct process if I am understanding that correctly.

I attached the process and the bearing is to be tapped into the flywheel and the input shaft is to slide into it. The input shaft should be snug but the bearing is to support the input shaft not secure it. If you have to press it onto the input shaft because it is so tight, it sounds like the wrong part.

Please let me know if I am not understanding this correctly. Thanks

Thank you for your answer Kenny. I was pretty sure about this, but wanted an expert second opinion on it. Thank you.
