I bought this car with a bad head from overheating. Took it to shop they put in a new head and the car kept overheating, the mechanic automatically assumed it was the fans so he put new fans in. Car kept overheating, he put a new thermostat and still same problem. I took the car away from him as he obviously doesn't know what he's doing and it's just guessing and costing me a lot of money. I read that it could be a bad fan control module so I ordered one online but when I went to take the old one out I don't see one where it's supposed to be mounted at (top right hand corner of fan housing/drivers side). Could it be located somewhere else or could it be that the previous owner took it off and bypassed it?

Hello,

This could be a problem with your water pump. The cooling fans are designed to come on when your engine gets to a predetermined temperature or when your A/C comes on. The fans will come on because the car is in idle and there is no air flow over the radiator to take the heat away from the coolant as the coolant cycles through the cooling system. The fan is designed to pull air through the radiator, there by simulating the vehicle moving. A good way to test this is to start your vehicle and let it idle. Keep a good eye on your temperature gauge. If the fans come on, then they are working. Do not let your car overheat though waiting for them to come on.

Alex, first of all thanks for your quick reply and second I still have a question regarding the fan control module? I didn't see you mention anything about it on your response and I also didn't see one listed on the diagrams you included. Does this model come equipped with one?
Thanks again,
Ellrod5201

Hello again,

Okay, here is what I've got on the cooling fan control module. This is a factory troubleshooting guide. It is pretty straight forward, but it will require you to use a multimeter. I have included a link down below if you are not familiar with how to use one.

Otherwise, I have included the troubleshooting guide in the diagrams down below. Please go through it and get back to us with what you fin d out.
