This thermostat has a notch on the rubber grommet that you need to line up with the notch that is pointing towards the cylinder head.

I do not show this engine that has a bleeder valve on the cooling line like some other Chrysler/Jeep products do, but if you have one, all you do is simply run the engine and get it warm and then open that valve until you have solid coolant coming out.

Just make sure you keep the radiator full, and I would suggest using a funnel that sits on top of the cap and keeps coolant supplied for when the air works out. I attached a picture of one option.
