Overheating

My car started overheating a couple weeks ago. Can't drive it a mile without it overheating. I found a pool of what I think is coolant next to the thermostat housing. Although couldn't find any wet spots around that area. It recently started smoking after it overheats and I stopped driving. Any ideas on the problem?

Hello,

Is your vehicle's powerplant a 2.4L, 2.7l, or 3.5L engine?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello,

This is probably going to be a stuck closed thermostat and/or a bad gasket that seals the thermostat housing. In the diagrams below I have included the directions for the removal of your thermostat and the specs for the replacement thermostat. Installation is the opposite of removal. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex
