My car overheated on me going down the highway then shut off on me. When I went to start it back it acted like my battery was dead. I used my jump box got it started and it shut off after I took my jump box off. Could a bad alternator, pulley or battery be the problem?

Hello,

This sounds like you could have a dead battery. Also it sounds like you may need a new alternator as well. We can't test for the alternator until we get the battery fixed first. Just to be sure could you please take a voltage reading across the battery terminals for me with a Digital Multi-meter. Here is a link below explaining how to use a DMM if needed:

Please get back to us with what you find out and we can go from there.

Thanks,
Alex
