Overheating after visit to the mechanic

Hello,

Since my last visit at the mechanic when they changed all of the fluids and spark plugs I have had intermittent heating problems. Approximately 2,000 miles after that service I checked my engine oil level and I had to add 1.8 liters! Since then I have replaced the coolant, checked the functionality of the thermostat and I am about to do a block test. I suspect I might have a small crack around the filler neck of the radiator. I kept seeing small drops there. I just replace the cap the hose that goes to the expansion tank and the upper radiator hose to be sure that those are not the problem. Any suggestions?

Go to auto parts store and rent or borrow a radiator pressure tester, Do this after engine has cooled down.

In addition and especially if this engine did get hot, rent a combustion gas tester along with the pressure tester. Subarus do not like getting hot, they tend to blow head gaskets. Not really a difficult repair but it can be complicated.
