Today I had my air conditioner fixed on my car. Shortly after my car started killing and then began to over heat. The mechanic changed my compressor and climate control to make the air work. All parts were salvaged from a yard. My car was in fair condition. It does have a engine leak. But it was running okay. Now it sounds horrible. Makes a loud knocking noise and now its over heating and killing when at idle. Any suggestions? The car never ran hot prior to a/c being fixed.

A/c puts a heavier load on an engine, the knocking noise should be checked out immediately. Also check engine oil it may be low as you say you have a leak. Try cleaning throttle plate and iac hole with choke cleaner clean plate on both sides. Then check to see if fans are working one should come on when a/c is on. Have coolant system pressure checked because the leak of oil may also be leaking coolant. Then check radiator for cold spots if any radiator is bad.
