1998 Opel Astra 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

Recently I had a car accident driving my opel.I took it to my mechanic. Today I went there so I could take the car and when I started the ignition the engine control indicator started flashing and the car didnt star. What could possible be reason for that?

Have the cars computer read for fault codes .. this will tell you where the fault lies !
