1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Check Engine

After about 5 mins after starting my car my Service Engine Soon light comes on. I was wondering how and where to start troubleshooting the problem myself. Also I had a transmission leak when my car was shipped to me from Va to Fl, I replaced the fluid let started it up then let it sit and there was no leak there after. Is that normal or should I get it checked out?

First place to start with the engine check light is to read the code. The easy way is to take it to autozone have them read it for free. There are other ways.

The code may point you in the right direction. Many times its the o2 sensor.
