It worked I got it in but now I want to re check the transmission fluid level just to be extra sure. The only thing is since I can’t shift gears, how do I get it to operating temperature to be able to accurately check it? Right now while it’s in park it won’t go beyond 140 degrees.

Hi,

The thermostat is opening too early. It should stay closed until the desired temperature is reached.

As far as the fluid check you can still check it. Keep in mind that ATF expands when it gets hot. So, at 140 degrees, it may indicate the level on the low side, but it should certainly be on the stick.

Check it and let me know what is on the stick.

Take care,

Joe

My car doesn’t have a dipstick, so, I have to check it from below the car it has to be at operating temperature, and I have to use a hand pump and pump it until the fluid starts coming back out.

But I'm trying to figure out how to get it up to operating temperature to check it accurately without moving it because I can’t move it at the moment.

Okay, I understand. The only thing I can think of is to block the airflow to the radiator so the fan can't pull air through the radiator and cool the coolant. I've seen people place a large piece of cardboard in front of the radiator to do this.

Let me know if that works for you.
