I have a intermittent no crank no start with dashes on the odometer. I have replaced the PCM and a newly flashed key. I turn the ignition to on and all normal. I try to crank the engine nothing happens no sounds. Every now and then it will crank and sometimes when it does not crank I hold the ignition to the start position for ten second or so and it will crank no start. I have cleaned all grounds that I know of and have looked up that grounds the PCM. Fuse 9 and relay 20 are both good. I believe the relay is good because I can insert it while ignition is on and hear it energize. I do not know where to look next. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello,

It sounds like you have an instrument cluster that is shorting out causing the problem you have described.

I would find a used cluster and plug it in to see what happens.

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

I will pull a known good and do a test swap but I can't help but wonder would a shorting cluster cause other symptoms of electrical faults. Is there anything in the pcm ground/power circuit that could have failed. I have checked and rechecked every ground I can find. I get continuity from ground to pcm ground on the pcm plug so I know it's grounded. What would be a good resource for a schematic for this car, I can't seem to find any. Thanks in advanced

I have found the wiring diagram for the computer (below) and a guide to help you do some testing.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Also I have seen where a bad starter can cause a delayed cranking condition as well. Can you use a test light to test the trigger wire when the ignition switch turned to the crank position?

Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken
