Alright so I recently bought the truck listed above, when I bought it, I noticed the oil pressure gauge was a at zero I asked the seller about it, he said it was just an oil pressure sensor and that it was a cheap and easy fix. Test drove the truck, and everything was running just fine, after driving it for a week the engine started to shake out of nowhere and check engine light was flashing. So, I pulled over and turned it off, but every time I would turn it on the engine would shake out of control, I was 10 minutes away from home, so I decided to keep driving it like that. The truck was shifting hard and very low on power (acceleration). The next day had someone come tow the truck to my mechanic, mechanic said he replaced every sensor on the truck and test drove it he said it was fine but then when he returned to the shop from test driving it, the oil pressure gauge went to zero and all the lights it had on came back on, and now he is saying I might need an engine replacement, I’m wondering if that’s necessary seems like the truck had a bad misfire and bad oil pressure sensor and 02 sensor, but does it really need a whole engine replacement for that? Please help.

Does the engine make noise while running? If you upload a short video of the engine running, I can tell for sure if the engine needs replacement. Also, I would do a compression test to see if the engine is okay compression wise.

This guide can help:

Also, can you check the engine oil to see what it looks like, clean, dark, low? I would run the codes as well to see what comes up.

Please go over these guides and report back.

The engine makes no noise or weird knocks when turned on, but it shakes really bad while idling and running and weak acceleration with check engine light flashing. The oil was black but was full, the oil pressure gauge said zero pressure though and no oil light was on the dash, that’s all I know so far.

Hi,

You indicated the oil is full. Does it have a fuel smell to it? If you have a flashing check engine lamp, that indicates a misfire is occurring. Try scanning the computer to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored.

Also, since there are no engine noises, it shakes really bad, doesn't have a lot of power, and the check engine lamp is flashing, which is most likely the result of a cylinder misfire.

Take a look through this link and let me know your thoughts:

Let me know if the link helps. Also, let me know what has been done to date.

Take care,

Joe
