Reverse was working fine one day then the next it no longer worked as in it was like I put it in neutral. All the other gears work fine no slipping. It showed no signs of anything being wrong and the transmission fluid level is where it should be. I have an automatic transmission. Any ideas on what could be the cause?

Hello Krystin,

For a proper trouble shooting read the fault codes for the transmission to narrow down the issue and feed back.

If all other gears can be selected then the selector lever and cable are good, transmission fluid level is good as you mentioned then we might have shorted electrical component not allowing the PCM to control the transmission. example reverse solenoid in valve block,or clutch discs, bands.

Check our guide for automatic transmission problem:

Please feed back what happens with you.
thank you.
