Make sure fuel pump is grounded good. The PCM may be faulty, did you replace tranny with same make and model?

I attempted to start my 1988 Dodge Ramcharger and it kicked over once and died. During subsequent attempts I did not hear the normal hum of what I believe to be the fuel pump. Does that seem like a likely issue and if so do I look at the relay, cable, fuel pump etc? Is the fuel pump in the tank? Thanks

Chrysler was a bit slow entering the fuel injected world, if you have FI and not a carb, then the pump is in the tank. Spray staring fluid, sparingly into the intake, will it start briefly? If so suspect the pump! Or the relay.
