One last thing, while I have the car like this, do you have any suggestions on what I should be looking and or replacing other than what's been said? Does the crank have a gasket? Do I have to replace the crank bolt as well? I'm just making notes on the extra things that need to be replaced. Also, I'm curious and would like to know not just for what I'm currently working on, but anything related to this car so are there bolts, pulleys, gaskets tensioners etc. That can only be used once. Meaning since I removed things from its original place be a bolt, gasket, harmonic balancer, etc, does it have to be replaced if yes what are they? So, I can start familiarizing myself with them and I just don't want to have to take everything apart again. Lol

Hi,

The crankshaft bolt is tight! Do this. Since you have a breaker bar on it, take a heavy hammer and smack the breaker bar a couple of times and the bolt should come loose. If you have an air impact, that will take it right off.

Now, the I and the E stand for intake and exhaust. It's identifying what each camshaft is for.

If you have a leak, then consider replacing the front crankshaft seal. If it isn't leaking, just make sure to lubricate the seal with motor oil before putting things back together.

Also, the timing belt does appear to have a good bit of play, but that can be because of the positioning of the cams.

I attached the directions below for replacing the belt. Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

So, I'm really struggling with this crank bolt. I tried the bump start but that isn't working. I put a weaker end impact gun pushing 120 ft/lbs of torque to nothing. I tried putting an extension to reach outside the wheel hub and added a cheater bar to it and it won't budge. I'm turning counterclockwise while this homemade pulley lock thing I made that screws into the whole of the crank pulley holds onto the control arm as I turn clockwise it hold but nothing gives. Is there something else I can do before I get spend bigger money on an impact gun I won't need so much? How much torque should the impact gun have for it to work?

Hi,

The bolt torque is listed below. On the high end, it says 122 ft/lbs. I just read through the procedures again and nothing indicates it as being a left-handed thread.

Did you try smacking the breaker bar with a hammer to see if it will break it loose?

Let me know.

Joe
